Summers in Arizona are no joke! I mean, we are talking well over 105 F for at least June, July and August. On top, we get almost no humidity! So… I’ve been incredibly intentional this year about caring for my skin and ensuring that it is healthy.
In addition to consistently following the very basics of my skincare morning routine (make sure to check that post through the link!) I’ve also started to eat healthier and be more selective about what I put in my body.
First, I’ve been drinking my weight in water, I incorporated collagen into my diet and lastly, I did a ton of research of the types of food that can help make your skin healthier. That’s how I came up with this smoothie!
I came across many recipes but I ultimately ended up making my own and I have to say…it turned out delicious. Below are the details:
- 1/2 avocado (chopped)
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/cup of chopped pineapple (frozen or fresh)
- 1/2 cup of almond milk (another alternative is coconut water)
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/2 tbsp of flax seed
- A handful of blackberries
Mix all the ingredients (with the exception of the blackberries) in a blender until the consistency turns smooth. If you like your smoothies thick, you can skip the water to try it without it first. You can always add it later and adjust accordingly. Top with blackberries.
Serving: 1 | Total time: 5 minutes
I also like to add a scoop of my favorite protein powder. Recently I’ve been trying the plant based Vega Essentials shake and it does wonders to my energy levels. Also the taste is great and the product is not nearly as expensive as others that are out there.
There you have it, super easy! The avocado will help you hydration, pineapples help with dull skin and the spinach has great antioxidants.
Give it a try and let me know what you think on the comment section below! I promise you, you are going to love it! Enjoy!
